Rotherham District Explorer Scounts Romania Expedition 2011
In July 2011, a team of 10 Scouts selected from the Rotherham District Explorer Scout Units are undertaking an expedition to Romania. They will be accompanied by two of Rotherham's finest Scout leaders, "Chef" and "Humph", plus their wives.
In the first week, we are spending time at one of the numerous orphanages Romania has, in the medieval Saxon city of Brasov, a key town in the infamous region of Transylvania, famous for the origins of Vlad the Impaler, the believed inspiration for the Dracula character created by Bram Stoker. At the orphanage, we are set to help out with a number of community projects.
In our second week, we are set to head off into the Transylvanian mountains for 6 nights of backwoods backpacking and camping.
